Applications of Electrical Connectors

Electrical connectors are used as a type of electro-mechanical trigger that serves to combine electrical circuits. This mesh of electrical circuits acts as a connector and interface and it is achieved by the use of mechanical assembly. These connectors are made up of jacks, those of which have a male end and plugs with a female end. The electrical connectors are a crucial component because they can be utilized alongside an adapter for a short term solution as well as a permanent solution. For more information on electrical connectors, read on below.

There are various and vast amounts of electrical connectors, all of which you can find on our stocks here at NSN Now. In the electronic sector, connectors are referred to as a physical interface. Though cable connectors are networked with wires, their counterparts, the electrical cables can be connected with circuits. You can see below how electrical circuits and electrical connectors are applied.

USB

The acronyms refer to the Universal Serial Bus because the connectors act as an interface device. They are frequently used for the production of Mac, Apple, and PCs, and come in  different types and serve different purposes.

Power

This is often referred to as the DC connector or AC power plug/socket. With the power connectors, they are utilized as a connector that can encompass industrial and multiphase power plugs/sockets, and NEMA connectors. The primary purpose of these electrical connectors is to prevent people from being shocked accidentally if they come into contact with energized conductors. Included with power connectors are safety ground connections and power conductors.

8P8C

These acronyms stand for eight positions/eight conductors, which means that these electrical connectors are modular, complete with eight positions that all contain conductors. The connectors for these uses are most recognized in CAT5 and Ethernet cables. Although these connectors resemble RJ45 cables used for landline telephones, the socket into which the end of the connector fits is different.

D Subminiature

These electrical connectors are found on IBM-compatible computers and certain modem ports. Although primarily used for testing, computers, and telecommunications, D-subminiature electrical connectors come in variants, some with solid machined contacts, crimp and PCB mounts, thermocouple contact options, and so on.
